Butterfly Lake has been here longer than any of Colonial Village's current residents. This unique home to avian and aquatic life has been enjoyed by generations of South Knoxville families. To let such a treasure cease to exist is not an option. The lake has been adversely affected by the drought, and for the first time in memory is in need of help to prevent it's disappearance. The end of Butterfly Lake would take a devastating toll on both the dependent wildlife and also the hearts of those who care deeply about the destiny of this joy of nature. By raising monies through the sale of "I Support Butterfly Lake" apparel, we are accomplishing the short term objective of refilling the lake and with your continued support achieving long term sustainability. This sustainability will be accomplished by the drilling of a well. One of our caring members has offered his property for this endeavor. This will make us no longer beholding to the cost of KUB water. This one time expense will guarantee future generations the same simple pleasure we all now enjoy, and assure this unique ecosystem for those it serves. So far, through the tireless efforts of a few locals the lake has been temporarily rescued, but with the well provided sustained water level fish can be reintroduced to help recomplete this amazing piece of nature. With care and possibly an addition of a fountain and some benches we can turn our lake into the jewel of Colonial Village. Your support and input would be greatly appreciated.
